The Botanic Gardens holds a special place within Singapore's heart, cherished for its expansive grounds nestled within the bustling heart of the city, where countless cherished memories have been woven.
Within the Botanic Gardens, the graceful pagodas hold historical significance as Singapore's pioneering "paktor" (a term derived from Hokkien, signifying dating) destination. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, these pagodas stood as a favoured rendezvous point for families orchestrating arranged marriages, while subsequently evolving into a clandestine haven for young lovers seeking hidden corners for their amorous rendezvous.
