Exuding the essence of hip cafes and boutique stores, Tiong Bahru stands as one of the most vibrant locales in Singapore. Yet, amidst this urban charm, it's the Tiong Bahru Market that truly encapsulates its spirit.
Emerging in the 1950s, Singapore's Tiong Bahru Market, formerly known as Seng Poh Road Market, stands as the very foundation upon which the modern hawker centres were built. This architectural marvel predominantly crafted from wood, with its distinctive zinc roofing, imprints an indelible mark on the senses, a true embodiment of Tiong Bahru's essence.
